We are pleased with our new partnership as a processor for the OPEN Foundation. This foundation aims to properly recycle as much e-waste as possible in the Netherlands and runs campaigns under the name Wecycle to encourage collection and recycling of e-waste. Together we are working toward a circular economy.

Incentive Scheme

The incentive scheme was created to achieve national e-waste collection targets. Van Pelt recycling has been committed to better electronics recycling for years, which is why The collaboration with the OPEN is a logical step: after all, we already have all the necessary expertise and manpower in-house.

Save e-waste from landfill and incineration

”Our biggest competitor has always been bin/trash incineration,”, explains Jan-Willem Dekker of Van Pelt Recycling. “Many people were not aware of the impact of throwing away electronics, such as the loss of precious (precious) metals. We believe the Incentive Scheme is going to help achieve a much higher recycling rate. We notice that there is great interest in the Incentive Scheme within our customer base. Anyone, customer or not, can approach us to learn more about the practical side of this story.”

Producer responsibility

In the Netherlands, manufacturers are responsible for recycling electrical appliances. This is called producer responsibility.

The OPEN Foundation, which stands for Organisatie Producentenverantwoordelijkheid E-waste Nederland, implements this on behalf of all producers of electrical appliances in the Netherlands by making recycling easy and accessible. Thus, there is now a network of some 13,000 collection points.
