Different types of circuit boards
Thanks to improved techniques, the proportion of precious metals on printed circuit boards has become smaller and smaller. Better and better results can be achieved with fewer precious metals. There are, due to electrification, more and more circuit boards, but their value is therefore decreasing. The application of the circuit board also determines its value. The more complex the device, the more valuable the circuit board is because it requires more precious materials. Among other things, the precious metals provide interference-free communication and data storage.
Determining the value of different types of circuit boards is done using these categories:
- Low-grade boards
- 10 carat boards
- 12 carat boards
- 14 carat boards
- 16 carat boards
- 18 carat boards
There are endless types of PCBs and they are changing at a rapid pace. We follow those developments closely, make analyses and are therefore always up to date with the right value.
Printed circuit board prices
What does an old circuit board yield? That depends on its complexity, as described above. The gold from a simple circuit board, such as one from an electric toothbrush, yields about €0.45 per kilogram. A circuit board from a cell phone is a lot more complex because it must also be able to transmit, and therefore it yields significantly more; easily around €9.80 per kilogram. These prices vary. We always use current prices assuring you the best yield. So the value of circuit board waste depends mainly on the product it comes from, combined with its function.
